Welcome to the home page of The Starlettes, where we bring back to life the old Skool Girl Group. Ever fantasized about living in the ages of Motown? And if you were around to experience the magic, wouldn’t it be amazing to still be there in the midst of the music culture? 1960 brought us Motown Records, founded by Berry Gordy Jnr in Detroit, Michigan USA. Known as the first record label to be owned by an african-american, Motown played an important part in the racial integration of popular music and has given us timeless hits that we still groove to today. With an array of hit smashing artists including Mary Wells, The Supremes, The Marvellettes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Temptations, It is no wonder the Motown sound has kept its audience right through soul history. We, The Starlettes, bring you a celebration of the Motown sound in our first musical journey. Set in nowadays, we play our (and your) favourite Motown hits; Aint No Mountain High, My Guy, Stop In The Name Of Love and Heat Wave, just to name a few – tee-ed it up with all the dance moves (as they were back in the day). To add to the visual experience, we are heavily themed, wig-ed and costumed to make you feel like you have travelled back in time… The Starlettes are fun, energetic, diva-ish, strong women who want you to laugh, dance and sing along with them!!! Let us bring some excitement into your next event!

 

The Crew

Headed up by Roxane Lebrasse, former Aus idol finalist who has spent the last 10 years singing alongside elite musicians across Australia and the globe, including Guy Sebastien, Jade Macrae, Disco Montego,  Delta Goodrem, Roachford, Jimmy Barnes, as well as released original material with The Rockmelons, Ultraphonic, Jose Che, and Universal Music.   Roxy is the Motown “Diva” in all of us.  She is The Starlettes’ “Bossy-Boots character.  Very Strong willed and independent  this young Starlette is all about Girl Power and not need a man to make her happy.  As the leader of the group she’s always putting the girls back in line with her “wisdom” and “experience”.  She can come across as hard and bitchy but has a heart of gold and only wants to look after her sisters…and a little bit of R.E.S.P.E.C.T from her men.

Enter Veena Rao, gracing both National and International stages with her  sweet and sultry sounds,  this diva has  the chops of beyonce  and brings intricate harmonics to the table. Veena has sang alongside  Roachford, Basement Jaxx & Soul II Soul.  The Vivi character brings comical cuteness to our motown experience.  Giggly, ditsy and sassy, Vivi reminds us that its ok to flaunt femininity and not take life so seriously.  This fun-loving lady is sure to win over the hearts of the audience.

Introducing Lisa Viola, raised in Perth, and relocating to sydney to feed her passion for music and performance, this sexy lady raises the bar on the singer-dancer label.  With polished moves and a voice that can be compare to the legendary Diana Ross, not to mention the killer smile, Lisa has lit up stages across the country with the likes of…..  In our show, Lisa plays the naive, and life loving character that keeps us looking on the bright side of love.  To Lisa, Romance is everything and she reminds us that love is real and every woman will one day find their Mr Right.

The Show

This new, exciting floorshow boasts of all the glitz, glamour and iconic music of the 60’s.  An authentic production of electric vocals and gutsy choreography, combined to bring you an evening of entertainment you will never forget. The show comprises of 6 cast members. The 3 Starlettes and their 3 back up singers and dancers.  Together they are able sing a diverse range
of Motown music, with high energy  choreography  and spectacular costume changes.

The Starlettes full show runs for 1.5 hours Including an Interval (2x 35 min Sets). The show is also versatile and can be tailored for any function and event.   Tailored sets can include just the 3 lead vocalists or a 10-30min set, whether it be a fast paced set (a quick burst of entertainment) or even just a vocal trio providing excellent background dining music.
